En réponse à l'annonce télévisée du président Nixon d'envahir le Cambodge (30 avril 1970), les étudiants de la Kent State University, dans l'Ohio, organisèrent un week-end de manifestation anti-guerre. Jusqu'au lundi,
le 4 mai 1970, où la Garde Nationale intervient pendant une paisible mobilisation. Elle ouvre le feu, elle tue 4 étudiants.

«They’re dirty hippies. We’re gonna give’m Hell everywhere we meet them» déclare Richard Nixon une semaine plus tard.

Cette chanson peut notamment être entendue sur l'enregistrement du concert de à Massey Hall (Toronto, 1971). Neil Young commençant à faire paraître ses archives. On peut parler de monuments. C'est en tout cas la curiosité de connaître l'histoire de cette chanson, Ohio, qui m'a conduit à écrire ce billet.
